SpaceX's Super Heavy booster (B10) and Starship (S28) vehicles launches their third fully integrated test flight from the orbital launch pad at Starbase, Boca Chica Beach, Texas.
The launch achieved major goals, Starship completed a propellant transfer demonstration and a test of the payload door's or PEZ opening and closing at near-orbital speeds during its coast phase around Earth.
Booster 10 successfully completed its flip maneuver and completed a full boostback burn to send it towards its splashdown point in the Gulf of Mexico, but fell short and experienced rapid, unscheduled disassembly (RUD) at 462 meters in altitude. Ship 28 continued the climb toward space and experienced its first atmospheric entry. About forty-nine minutes into the flight, communication was lost, and the vehicle broke apart.
